AVOID direct sunlight is not great for caning.
Not only will it dry out your furniture over time, but it can also cause discoloration and cracking. Instead, make sure your chair pieces live in well-shaded areas of your home so they have the best chance for survival.
MOISTURIZE
Make sure that you do not oversaturate caning. Wipe the chair down after spritzing so that any excess liquid doesn't cause mildew in the chair's body
Treat your cane seat the same as your skin. Making sure that the cane is heavily moisturized is vital to prolonging the life of the cane seat.
A spritz with oil or water will do the trick gently on the backs and undersides of the cane seats at least once a month to help your cane survive.
WIPE IT DOWN
Make sure that you do not oversaturate caning. Wipe the chair down after spritzing so that any excess liquid doesn't cause mildew in the chair's body.
